The Happening

Movie PosterMovie Poster

Summary:
A strange, horrible and unprecedented crisis begins in Central Park. A high school science teacher, his wife and a young girl do what they can to survive it.
Story Line:
3, I have to give an A for effort but because it did a good job of keeping it a mystery but once you figure it out it kinda ruins the movie.
Effects:
7, it was really cool i'm not gonna lie it was pretty neat to see all that they did.
Violence:
A woman stabs herself in the side of the neck with a large, metal hair stick (we see the wound with blood seeping out of it).
Sex/Nudity:
A women talks to her husband about how she had a one night stand another man while they were married though it is brief and not very detailed.
Drugs:
None that i can recall off the top of my head.
Language:
A kid calls someone a pu**y and a b*tch. the end of a dirty joke about male genitalia is heard. brief s*x related humor. Zooey Deschanel's character uses the word "a**hole" twice.
Personal Thoughts:
Well personally i thought that it was a well thought of movie were naturalist and transondentialist, green house etc. but all in all wasn't a bad watch i would have to add it to the collection.
Overall:
5, worth watching, possibly worth buying.

Hannah Montana: The Movie

Movie PosterMovie Poster

Summary:
As Hannah Montana's popularity begins to take over her life, Miley Stewart, on the urging from her father takes a trip to her hometown of Crowley Corners, Tennessee to get some perspective on what matters in life the most.
Story Line:
Wasn't that great it was ok but no major twists outside the TV show.
Effects:
2, wasn't much effects..
Violence:
none
Sex/Nudity:
a kissing scene.
Drugs:
none.
Language:
none.
Personal Thoughts:
The acting wasn't good at all. Miley Cyrus provided us with the same stale performance she does in the television series. It is almost a shame that wonderful Vanessa Williams agreed to even do this movie but I guess work is work. I doubt this movie will be remembered in five years. I do believe it is like the Lizzie McGuire movie of today. In two years most people won't even care. This script was very clichéd and slipshod. I did not find one bit of it convincing and if the songs were supposed to be the saving grace then that grace has run out. The music and the songs although most of them from Miley's actual albums although popular with the 8 to 14 crowd will be not considered quality compositions in the eyes of those that know true musical greatness. I would of preferred if she had written more original songs for this movie instead of recycling.
Overall:
3, was worth watching, not worth buying and not worth watching twice.

Movie PosterMovie Poster

Summary:
The story begins with Goku, who seeks out upon his adoptive grandfather Grandpa Gohan's dying request to find the great Master Roshi and gather all seven Dragon Balls. Of which he has one, in order to prevent the evil Lord Piccolo from succeeding in his desire to use the Dragon Balls to take over the world. And Goku's quest is to obtain the mystical Dragonballs before Piccolo does.
Story Line:
It was ok, the movie itself was really short in my opinion to really get a whole story line it wasn't to impressive.
Effects:
They were really good, flawless because the whole moive had effects.
Violence:
This movie contains minimal amounts of blood. Some Mild Bullying Since this movie is an action movie, there are many psychical fights.
Sex/Nudity:
Kissing scenes between Goku and ChiChi Chow Yun Fat's character,Master Roshi is a pervert. A swimsuit magazine is mentioned and even shown, although not in detail.
Drugs:
None.
Language:
Mild uses of hell and d*mn. One instance of sh*t . Mild bullying.
Personal Thoughts:
I thought the film as a whole was good but i thought the story line was a little vague and it was really to short, but better then the cartoon, and it never really explained why Piccolo was bad or evil. So if you didn't watch the cartoon's you are completely lost at some points.
Overall:
4, i like the effects and the fighting rest is just ok.

Monsters vs Aliens

Movie PosterMovie Poster

Summary:
On her wedding day, Susan Murphy (Reese Witherspoon) is hit by a meteorite infused with Quantonium, a rare and powerful element that causes her to grow to an enormous size. Targeted by the government as a monster, Susan is captured and imprisoned at a secret facility where other such oddities are being held, including Dr. Cockroach (Hugh Laurie), a mad scientist who accidentally transformed himself into a roach-human hybrid, B.O.B. (Seth Rogen), a gelatinous, brainless mass brought to life in an experiment gone wrong, The Missing Link (Will Arnett), a Creature-from-the-Black-Lagoon-like lizard man, and the skyscraper-sized mutant larvae Insectosaurus. When deranged alien overlord Gallaxhar (Rainn Wilson) arrives on Earth to obtain the precious Quantonium and conquer the world, President Hathaway (Stephen Colbert) offers the monsters their freedom in exchange for defeating the evil mastermind and his legion of robots and clones.
Story Line:
It was well one of a kind i mean its not everyday you find monsters and then they have them fight aliens so it was original in its own way.
Effects:
They were really good, flawless because the whole moive had effects because it was all animation but it was really nice mondern cartooning.
Violence:
A girl is hit by a meteor, but she is not harmed. (There is dirt on her, however.) A girl grows into a giant, and knocks a building down. One man gets a plank of wood on top of him, but he isn't harmed. There are many sequences of fighting action, although with no blood, can be extremely action-packed.
Sex/Nudity:
There is talk of a male monster about wanting to be with a female's fiance. He later complains that the man was dating both him and the female (though this never actually happened, because he is brainless). There is a scene with two teenagers in a car, and though this wouldn't be noticed by children, it is obvious to adults and teens that they are thinking of having sex. The girl refers to it, "Just like dancing, but I will lead." No words or anything that give the hint. They don't get close to it, however, because they see something fly across the sky.
Drugs:
None.
Language:
Nothing bad is in this movie. They use Modern Day alternatives to the word.
Personal Thoughts:
I thought it was a funny film i was real impressed with how funny it really was its worth watching and buying when it comes out.
Overall:
6, it was a good solid movie Good Job Dreamworks!

The Haunting In Connecticut

Movie PosterMovie Poster

Summary:
The true story of a family forced to relocate near a clinic where their teenage son was being treated for cancer. The family begins experiencing violent, supernatural events that the parents first blame on stress from the illness, but they later discover that their new home is a former mortuary with a dark past.
Story Line:
It's cool because it was based on a true story so it makes you wonder through out the whole movie did this really happen? Or was this the add in for viewers i like movies like that, also it had some twists in it not very predictable.
Effects:
Well any effects in here where blurred out because of the way they shot it, it add a unknowing side to the movie like you were dazed in a since it was cool but at the same time a pain because you never did 100% know what was going on in those time slots.
Violence:
The boy with cancer becomes disturbed and is found in the corner of a room with bloody hands. The walls are covered in bloody hand and claw marks. An old owner of a funeral home is seen clipping off the eyelids of dead bodies. These eyelids are kept in a box found many years later by a young man and his cousin. A young boy is seen running throughout the house. He climbs into the dumbwaiter looking for an escape, but then somehow gets locked into the incinerator and burned alive. His burnt body is repeatedly seen in the movie. The boy with cancer wakes up to find many bloody cuts on his body in the form of words. There is a scene where a boy tears up the walls of the house, many dead bodies fall out of the walls. This scene may be very disturbing to some viewers.
Sex/Nudity:
There is a shower scene, but nothing below the woman's shoulders is visible. It was very non-sex and nude oriented movie nothing to be offended by.
Drugs:
A man sits outside of a bar and sees a group of friends drinking before driving away. The father is an alcoholic and one night comes home to his family drunk, becoming angry when he sees that they are all sleeping with the lights on. He storms through the house, yelling and taking out all the light bulbs. The father is seen drinking a bottle of asian vodka while playing an electric guitar.
Language:
A few mild religious obscenities. I don't remember any actual cussing in this film.
Personal Thoughts:
I thought this film was nice in its own way, it has alot of twists and turns but it still has the classic "Shock You" PG-13 Style as all horror films these days do... But at the same time you couldn't bet money on what was going to happen in most parts so in that aspect i was impressed and i enjoyed it from that point. But in my opinion its just another fail at a horror film, as a suspense thriller its not to bad though.
Overall:
5, not a horror.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Movie PosterMovie Poster

Summary:
Wolverine lives a mutant life, seeks revenge against Victor Creed (who will later become Sabertooth) for the death of his girlfriend, and ultimately ends up going through the mutant Weapon X program.
Story Line:
It was awesome, it was intriguing and solid through out wasn't any holes and it explained everything that the first few movies didn't it was very well written.
Effects:
From what i saw it was amazing! Flawless something are a little exaggerated but all in all it was swell.
Violence:
There is alot of violance but not much blood a very creepy stuff here and there but its not to bad at all.
Sex/Nudity:
A man is seen bare-chested several times and fully nude from behind in several scenes.
Drugs:
He drinks, he smokes, but don't think he does drugs.
Language:
It's a wolverine movie. He doesn't say nice things. But in the D
Personal Thoughts:
I thought this movie was a really nice Comic Film, it really did X-Men justice best of the whole series. It explained the message it set out to and had some twists that kept you wanting to keep watching.
Overall:
9! Flawless.

Haunting of Molly Hartley

Summary:
Molly Hartley looks to put her troubled past behind her with a fresh start at a new school, where she sparks with one of the most popular students. But can her secrets stay buried, especially as she learns more about the horrific truth that awaits her once she turns 18?
Story Line:
I thought it was original and unexpecting at parts, it wasn't a movie you could bet money in every scene like most in its category. I was impressed.
Effects:
I thought they were very well done, they used alot of camera work vs. using alot of green screen computer i was impressed.
Violence:
Molly grabs a girls arm, yells at her and we hear the bone in her wrist crack. ***POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT*** The entire movie is based on a child who is traumatized because her mother tried to kill her by stabbing her in the chest with a pair of scissors. There are several scenes that flashback to this event. The main character hits her father over the head with a very heavy object knocking him out. The main character (in fighting for her own life) smacks another girls head against the side of a Baptismal killing her. The movie starts with a father intentionally killing his own daughter (there is nothing shown but it is implied that he stabs her with a piece of a broken mirror). and he cause them to be involved in a major auto vehicle accident. The main character kills her mother inadvertently by fighting with her and the mother ends up falling 2 stories to her death (ultimately landing on a knife, with which she was trying to kill her daughter).
Sex/Nudity:
Molly takes off her shirt and has a bra on, then puts a large shirt over and takes her pants off; we see nothing except part of her legs. Nothing explicit.
Drugs:
Children (teenagers) drinking alcohol and smoking at a party.
Language:
One use of "f**king." Several uses of the word Sh*t. A few God D**n A few Jesus Christs.
Personal Thoughts:
All that said, if I had to dig for a good quality in this movie, I would say it is the acting. And that's the only praise I can think of really. All 3 stars I gave this movie are for the decent acting. So in conclusion, avoid this movie, unless dull, boring, lazy and banal high-school-teen based thrillers/horrors with a religious undertone and shockingly idiotic twist happen to be your favorite.
Overall:
3, the movie in whole was ok, but it wasn't amazing by any means.
